Companies and individuals, now in the same session
Sell one session to companies and individuals from the same booking page. Here's what's new in Dojo and how to set it up.

When we launched Dojo in June, we built it for trainers who sell to companies, and we said it wasn't for people buying a course for themselves.
That was only half the picture. A lot of training is paid for by the person who takes it: a forklift certificate before a new job, a first aid course, a project management class paid out of pocket. Many trainers who sell to companies sell those seats too, and until now they needed a second tool to do it.
As of today, Dojo sells to both. Companies and individuals book from the same page, pay the way that suits them, and sit in the same session.
One session, two kinds of buyers
Here's what that looks like for Northwind Safety, running a 12-seat Forklift operator training on Thursday, November 12:
- A logistics company books 8 seats for its warehouse team. Northwind sends a $680 invoice.
- 4 individuals find the remaining seats on Northwind's booking page and pay $95 each by card.
That's a full room and $1,060 from one session. Without the individuals, four seats stay empty. Without the company, Northwind needs eight more people paying their own way.
Dojo keeps the two kinds of seats apart where it matters (who pays, how, and on what terms) and together everywhere else: one session, one attendee list.
Choose who each program is for
Each program now says who can book it: companies, individuals, or both. A custom leadership program might be for companies only, while an open certification course can be for both.
Prices are now set for the whole program instead of by the hour. Companies get a team price: per seat, flat, or by number of seats. Individuals pay one price per seat. If you stop selling a program to one group, anyone who already booked keeps their seat.
How companies and individuals book
Companies request seats for their team from your booking page. You send a quote and an invoice, created in QuickBooks if you've connected it. Every order gets its own number, and once the dates are set, you share them with the company.
Individuals pick a date, pay by card, and get their own account. They sign in with a 6-digit code sent by email, so there's no password to remember, and find their schedule, payment and refund status in one place. Their emails arrive in their own language, English or French.
Card payments go through your own Stripe account, so payouts land with you.
Refunds that follow your rules
Selling to individuals means handling cancellations one seat at a time. Dojo now does most of that for you.
- Two cancellation policies. Set your refund terms once for companies and once for individuals, for example a full refund up to 7 days before the session and 50% after that.
- Self-service cancellation. Individuals can cancel before their first session starts. The refund follows your policy and goes back to their card automatically.
- Rescheduling without losing anyone. When you move a session, Dojo keeps track of who is attending. Individuals can accept the new dates, and anyone who doesn't is refunded in full on a date you choose.
- Refunds on Home. Refunds that need your attention are grouped on your Home page, each with its amount and status.
Also in this release
- A new Home page. Setup steps, today's sessions and refunds, on one screen.
- Program versions. Update a program's curriculum without changing what people already booked.
- Session summary emails. Attendees get a clear summary of their sessions by email, replacing calendar invites.
- Help in the app. Select Learn more next to a section to open a short article about it.
- Taxes with Stripe Tax. Taxes on card payments are calculated by Stripe, and your business details come straight from your Stripe account.

Frequently asked questions
Can I sell a program only to companies, or only to individuals?
Yes. Each program lists who can book it, and your booking page shows only the options you've chosen. If you later stop selling to one group, existing bookings stay in place.
How do companies and individuals pay?
Individuals pay by card when they book, through your own Stripe account. Companies pay by invoice.
What happens when an individual cancels?
Before their first session starts, an individual can cancel from their account. They're refunded according to your cancellation policy for individuals, back to the card they paid with. After that, you can still cancel their seat yourself and choose how much to refund.
Do I need QuickBooks to sell to companies?
No. With QuickBooks connected, quotes and invoices are created there and payments are tracked automatically. Without it, you upload your own invoice as a PDF. To sell to individuals, you need a Stripe account to take card payments.
